Preface |
| Skåneleden consists of a number of tracks in Skåne, in
the very south of Sweden. No wilderness, all of Skåne is affected
by human activities. Good and bad. The tracks pass through all types of
nature that exist in this part of Sweden, as well as parts with no nature.
There are in total 900 km tracks, divided into pieces of about 10-20 km,
with specially made places to stay over night; a windshelter, outdoor toilet,
and a fire-place with fire-wood. .Do not expect all of them to be in perfect
shape, and to have firewood. People do not alwys leave things as they should,
please do not belong to that group. The track is marked with orange labels,
and where the track change direction is it indicated by a sign, see the
photo at the top. No special equipment is needed, except; good shoes, rain
suit, food for one or more days, and a sleepingbag if you have to stay
over night. The tracks pass with some interval villages with shops, and
public transportation. At some places are there hotels or youth hostels.
Normally can one not drink the water in lakes and brooks, but at some places
along the track are there springs with good water. These are marked on
the map in the folders that can be bought in bookshops, and on the web
is an official description in swedish and also partly in english;
about
skåneleden, with news, information, and details about interesting
things along the tracks.
I was once asked by guest researchers about where one could hike in Skåne. I then realised that I did not know much about the track Skåneleden, though I in the early 1980's did some parts of it. So I could not tell them much about it. I therefore decided to learn more to be able to give better advices, this is the reason for these pages. I had up to that time only walked in the mountains far north. I hope I can inspire some to hike Skåneleden, at least I have learned to like it. There is a very good official website about Skåneleden. At the time of writing are there four tracks; coast to coast (1) in the north between the east and west coast, north to south (2) between the forests in north to the south coast, ridge to ridge (3) diagonal track mostly on the ridges Söderåsen and Linderödsåsen, Österlen (4) the flat land in southeast along the shore and the inland. The track descriptions are based on my own views about the tracks and experiences, as I wrote it down in my hiking diary. They are not intended to be a complete guide of what one can see or do along the tracks. For more detailed information visit the official site as given above. The descriptions are based on excursions done from 1998 and onwards. The tracks are not done in any structured way, different parts of a stage has been visited at different times. The dates are given in the track description. Descriptions contains information about each piece, illustrated with a number of pictures. These descriptions have I written in swedish, but the overview of the tracks are in english. For each description have I included a header photo of an, in my view, interesting church or castle, and several photos along the track. |
