Day 1: 10 September 1990, Hemavan - Kungsleden

It od not happen often that I can have vacation in September. I look forward to five days in the mountains, and I hope that nature is kind enough to dress for automn. We arrived yesterday to Hemavan, and have spent the night as th eonly guests at the youth hostel. The morning offer fog, which dissolve during the morning. The shine from an almost clear sky when we at lunch start our walk on the road up to the botanical garden. We continue on Kungsleden through a birch forest, which has begun to switch to autmon colours. The track goes uphill, pass the ski pists, and turn into the valley towards Viterskalet and Syterskalet. It is now slightly downhill. It is by no means a dramatic valley, but the gentle mountains and the open broad valley gives a far reaching impressive view. The weather is fantastic, 15 degrees and sunshine. This looks promising for our plan to walk up towards Sytertoppen, but of course the weather can change. At a brook naerby the bridge over Syterbäcken do we find our campsite. Towards Viterskalet
