July 13, 2015: Bird Hill (Fågelkullen)
Following Abiskojåkka from the footbridge upstream on the eastern side. Steep slopes and fine views. After the bridge is a small heath with Nodding Campion and Alpine Butterwort. Also Small-white Orchid and Alpine Meadow-rue. Inside the birch forest before the bridge over the highway and river bloom Myosotis decumbens Host. Going over the river on a footbridge before the highway. Here is one involved in the construction of a viewing platform.

Following the western edge of canyon downstream. Dips steeply towards the rushing water. Good path, a short distance with rocks. Approaches to the footbridge and try to follow the water to the river mouth. Inaccessible, we turn back.

Instead takes Rallarvägen towards Björkliden through birch forest. The goal is Bird Hill (Fågelkullen). Chickweed form mats. Going up on a hill, looking the river mouth. But it is not Bird Hill. After about a kilometer is the trail, "Fågelkullen" is written on a sign.

On the hill is a shelter and a view of the river mouth, Torne Träsk and mountains on the other side of the lake. A beautiful view. In a tree are dummies of birds that can be seen here. There is no admittance to the river mouth this time of year. Stand for a moment and watch. See no birds. Returning. Over the path runs an animal with a white grey fur. Arctic fox? Do not see, it cross rapidly.

On the other side of the footbridge is a path up on a hill with a viewplatform. Here one have a view of Abiskojåkka towards Nuolja and Torne Träsk.

Fish gratain is today put in the oven. The kitchen is full of families with children. A man is making food for his dogs. As usual, may hunt mosquitoes before bedtime. No mosquito nets and it is not possible to always have the window closed. Gets too hot. It is sensitively. Hear it stay many families here.
