July 14, 2015:
Kårsafallen
As usual, the good weather. Today, the goal is Kårsafallen.
A long rapids in the lower part of the valley Kårsavagge.
A path leads there through the woods west of Abiskojåkka.
Walk barefoot over the brook Ridonjira.
Mostly birch with pine groves.
Sometimes views towards the mountains in the south and Nuolja the west.
Along the trail are several dead lemmings.
In the sky are buzzards.
It is warm, sweating and mosquitoes thrive with us.
Maybe not thrive, some will be killed.
The path is alternately easy time, footbridges, wet and rocky.
Cranesbill, Alpine Butterwort, Common Cow-wheat and Scottish Asphodel bloom.
After four kilometer hike we reach the bridge at Kårsafallen.
Chickweed adorn the edge against jåkken.
A mighty waterfall, worth the trek here.
It stretches up towards the valley Kårsavagge,
facing east it calms down.
Eating lunch and drinking cold fresh delightfully water from jåkken.
Then walk back the same way.
Back on the tourist station cools a cold beer, Kallholmen.
A man laughs derisively when I take a picture of the beer.
In the evening with a three course menu in the restaurant. The last night.
Well, partying? As an appetizer, a minimal slice of crispy bread with a
piece of char on. "A little but good," says the waiter. Agree with.
Main course is a few pieces of reindeer meat with a thin smeared
layer of cauliflower puree. Little but good.
Cross-Pull, doors are open in the heat. May fetch a jacket.
Seated at a table with a view into a wall.
Cheese board is fantastic, buffet. Eat a lot of it.
Unfortunately, it is not stated which cheeses it is.
