The
last day. The breakfast consist of crispbread, that is what remain. The
route to Kvikkjokk is rather boring, at least compared with Sarek. At the
border
of Sarek is information about the national parc. The track goes through
a birch forest, with more and more spruce in it. It is up and down, we
pass a few marshes. We meet a pair of hikers walking in the opposite direction.
They do not wear boots, and have to make detours around the wet areas.
The track end at Kungsleden, the hikers highway. It is wide, stones and
roots makes it uncomfortable. Close to Kvikkjokk is a clear-felled area.
A storm earlier during the summer took the remaining trees. These still
lie on the track and block it.
At
two thirty are we in Kvikkjokk, and get a room in the mountain station.
Shower, coffee, and my friend start to smoke again. Normal life. While
waiting for dinner, do we stroll about in the small village. There are
about twenty permanent inhabitants. The name Kvikkjokk can be translated
with "the river with rapids". We visit the small
chapell.
