Also
today are the rainsuits needed to start with. After the outlet from Nasasjaure
do we find a place where Låutakjåkkå
is simple to cross. One do not need to take off the boots. But it takes
some time to get to the opposite side, because one must zig-zag between
small islands in the river to avoid the deepest part. We follow the south
side of Nasasjåkåtj, the brook from Nasasvagge, up to the lake
Nasasjaure. A height difference of 160m during one kilometer. The lake
is at an altide of 940m. On the north side of the lake do Njaka (1348m)
meet the lake at a large angle, the south side is simpler to walk. At the
entrance of the valley is a demolished reindeer fence. By hikers !? Hope
not. We follow the shore of the two kilometer long lake. Many areas are
covered with stones, made slippery by the rain. We were here in 1982,
but then it was fog and rain, and we did not see much.
When
we reach the west end of the valley do the sun show up. We take the opportunity
to have lunch, with the view of Padjelanta
in front of us. The river Mielätno is finding its way to Arasluokta,
the lone mountain Mattåive (1467m) forces the river to make a ninety
degree turn. Beside us are strange formations, two meter high half spheres.
They remind us about a female breast, with a stone or tuft of grass as
the nipple. Can not resist to caress one. The slope down to the bridge
across Mielätno is comfortable, though there are some places with
osiers. From here is the Sarvestjåkkå mountain on the other
side of Alkajaure seen, dressed in clouds. The bridge look damaged, but
safe. The other side of the river is flat and comfortable, all the way
to Alkajaure. We look for the hut which is on the west side of the lake,
somewhere in the osier. The osier has grown since 1982, and it takes some
time to find it. The hut is already occupied. The occupants seem to have
had a tough day. Tired and wet. The hut is small, with place for four persons.
More will make it crowded, which it is today. We leave, find ourself a
very beautiful and nice place on the shore of Alkajaure. Can not be better.
The sky and clouds are burning in the sunset.
